Venlo

Venlo is a city in the south of the Netherlands.
Due to its location by a river (Maas), it was able to develop into a thriving place of commerce.
At present Venlo has approximately 90.000 inhabitants and qualified to be a city as early as 1343. The city has a wealth of history and despite the many wars, much of it has been conserved. The Municipal Archives of Venlo contain a rich collection of documents relating to Venlo and its vicinity (including the former municipals Tegelen and Belfeld), dating from past to present.
